OPEN KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

SUNDAY 9th July 2023 REGISTRATION COMENCES 8.30.00AM  TOURNAMENT COMMENCES 9.30AM.

RULES: - Please note that competitions advertised on the EKF website are open to members of the English Karate  Federation or members of other WKF affiliated national governing bodies and competitors not in  contravention of WKF statutes. Licence checks will be carried out on the day and competitors are reminded  that a valid EKF licence must be presented upon request of the organising body or its representative, failure  to do so may result in entry being denied By entering this tournament you confirm that you fulfil the above • Yuko, Waza-Ari, Ipon scores will apply in the kumite Events • (Mirror judges in some events, depending on amount of refs) wkf based rules • Junior kumite events will be 1.5 mins seniors 2 mins, finals 2 and 3 mins. • Kata sections may be done by score or flags (a decision will be made closer to the date)  • Red and Blue Flags will be used. • Beginners to 4 th kyu may repeat katas in all rounds,  • 12yrs and above high grade Kata section, may not repeat their kata..  • Compulsory gum shield, must be worn in kumite events, and chest guard for females • Approved red for Aka, blue for Ao mitts, red belt or blue belt will be worn, belt  showing grades will not be allowed (please bring your own belts) • All KUMITE COMPETITOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR RED OR BLUE WKF STYLE  SHIN/FOOT GUARD (THIS WILL BE REQUIRED IN ALL AGE GROUPS) • Only white karate Gi will be allowed • Competitors must have up to date licence / insurance  PLEASE ENSURE YOU ENTER THE CORRECT CATEGORY, PLEASE CHECK HEIGHTS OF YOUR COMPETITORS. THERE WILL BE MANY JUNIOR AND NEW COMPETITORS TO TOURNAMENTS, TO ENCOURAGE THEM THE OFFICIALS WILL BE VERY  STRICT WITH ANY EXCESSIVE CONTACT, NO CONTACT TO FACE IN CHILDRENS SECTIONS.
